Happy Holidays

What a fun week this was. We did a lot of driving. First I drove to WVA and met T's dad and mom. It turned out a whole lot better than either of us could have ever expected. Her dad is really a funny guy and doesn't hide from anything he's said or done in the past. I definitely respected him though I have to remind myself that he doesn't hear so well. He totally missed me asking him and Syrenboy for her hand in marriage the first time. I spent a good 10-15 minutes setting him up only to have him look off blankly in the distance while I was talking. T's mom finally asked him if he'd heard anything I said to which he answered NO. So I condensed it into about a 15 second speech the second go-round at a greater volume. T and her stepmom thought it was pretty funny.
Saturday I met a couple of her very close friends and they were very sweet and just all around great people. Sunday her friend Tanya and her son came over and T cooked the best Pork Chops and Mac n Cheese ever tasted. The kids had a great time playing together and the three of us just kinda goofed around a bit.
Monday after T finished school, we drove down to Durham, NC to visit her best friend. It was a good trip and her friends are pretty awesome. Looks like someone's gonna have to move. We were both extolling the virtues of our neighborhoods and states. She'll be back down there tuesday for her friends delivery of her godchild.
Tuesday we drove to Atlanta and she finally got to see our house. I was glad she liked it. She met my best friends (my second family) and my co-worker that I spend a lot of time with. Wednesday she got to meet several of my co-workers as we stopped by my office for a few hours. Everyone loved her.
Thursday we drove to Columbia, SC to visit with my best friends family and my brother and sister. I think I got off pretty easily because I had to meet about 6 people total and in one meal thursday she met like 8 and that was before we even got to my brothers place. The stop at my brothers went very well too and we just really had a good Thanksgiving Day before driving to Charleston that night.
So the hour she'd been dreading all week finally came when we got to Charleston and I woke my mom up and introduced them. They talked a little that night and I could tell my mom liked her. Again I have to tip my hat to her as Friday morning we got up at the butt-crack of dawn to stand in line with other idiots trying to get cheap stuff after Thanksgiving. We succeeded and I was able to pick my mom up a computer at a reasonable price which meant instead of giving my sister the slow relic I'd brought down with me, I was able to give her my mom's old computer. It wasn't in horrible shape but my mom drives them pretty hard. When we got back I had to take my mom to pick up her car from the shop which unexpectedly left T at home alone with my dad. She didn't know and he didn't know cause he was working 2nd shift and had just gotten home at 6am and went straight to bed. Since I was already out , I decided to stop by Worst Buy and pick up something for my dad on my way back home.
That would probably make me the worst fiance ever. She woke up to me gone and my mom had made it home by now so she was there alone with my mom AND my dad. Luckily, my dad is definitely easy going and if my mom likes you, she'll treat you like a best friend. So they were getting along great and were just chatting it up by the time I made it home. She pretty much spent the whole day with my mom running errands and picking up different things she wanted to get from the store. I had another friend come over and we were doing computer cleanup and repair 101 on my mom's laptop and old computer to get it ready for my sister. It definitely made for a long day as we then met my other college friends on our way back to Atlanta friday night. I'd put the count of people from my friends and family that she met this week somewhere in the range of 15-20.
Today was a sucky day only because it meant she had to leave to go back to WVA. She's back home now safe and sound and we are looking forward to the next time we get to see each other, either this week or next.
So there's my rather long winded update.
