Tap Tap Tap
Is this thing on??? Another beautiful Saturday here, thankfully I'm getting to see it from my own living room for a change. I've been on the road about 9 weeks already this year and will be headed up to Massachusets and across to Austin I think Texas within the next month. Still, it's not that bad, they've been trying to space it out so I'm not gone weeks in a row like I was in January.
Since it's starting to warm up here, we decided to do some yardwork this morning. That can also be read as, some friends are coming to stay with us and our yard looked like something out of National Geographic so we decided to clean it up some. The grass still hasn't come back full force yet, so there wasn't too much to mow in the front yard but when I got to the side, whoa look out. It would appear that our side and backyard is in line with the water drainoff from all of our neighbors above us. Because of this, while the rest of grass is pretty much dormant, along that one particular line the grass was thick enough to kill the lawnmower engine a few times. I did manage to get through it all though. Tara and Ryan took to the task of pulling some weeds and planting some seeds. We'll have to wait a month or so to see if anything took hold but we could have some pretty flowers popping up around the porch and trees.
The back yard?????? Has been completely written off. Ever since I fenced it in last year and let Bella start running around loose, it's become a war zone. You have to watch out for the defence trenches that are built everywhere and if you navigate those, you have to deal with the cleverly hidden mounds of grass that rise almost two feet off the ground where she used her special fertilizer. If you somehow survive all that, there are numerous landside devices littered around the yard just waiting to take you out if you step in the wrong direction or dont look down when you're walking. Yup, the backyard is all hers and the most I might do for the forseeable future is take the weed wacker to some of her grass hiding places.

You may want to demolish it all and start over when the little one gets older... I had to do that - my dog was so mad at me, but it was so nice to let the girls play out back with no worries.
Yard work is my favorite work.
Hi Steve! Good to see you were at home for a bit.
I love this time of year for yardwork. By August, I pretty much hate it. :-)
Good luck with the yard and making it look pretty. It's so hard to keep it looking nice, but the hard work is quite rewarding.
Yardwork is the kind of thing where you can see what you've accomplished and I like that.
